‘Well
red' are an acoustic act from Cork who initially formed at the beginning
of 2004 under the name ‘Tom & AJ'.
With
diverse musical backgrounds, Tom & AJ both play guitar and blend
upbeat acoustic riffs, powerful harmonies and soulful lyrics with catchy
melodies and excellent guitar skills.
They
first started playing local singer/songwriter nights and, soon after,
began getting regular slots in venues such as the LV Bar and the Tikki
Lounge. During 2004 they have supported Cork band Playtoh and played
venues such as An Cruiscin Lan, the Triskel Arts Centre and Connolly's
of Leap.
In
November 2004, AJ entered a local singer/songwriter competition which
he went on to win.
The
prize was three days recording in Blue Monkey studios in Bandon.
With
Ann Lehane providing her violin and vocal skills, they recorded their
demo EP in February 2005 which features the now popular tune ‘Corkonian
Brigade'.
Having
featured on two compilation CD's (Family Tree 2004 & Catalytic Sessions),
well red are now best known for their energetic live performances.
Having
already received local press coverage and prime time radio play, this
dynamic duo are taking on 2006 with a new zest, new material and a new
violin player!
