Solitary
Confinement
Solitary
confinement is somewhere I like to frequent
So I can plan my
brand new life.
I like to spend
a lot of time with either me, myself or I
And let them in
on everything.
It’s quite
easy to confess get these bad things off my chest
and you can help
find a way.
Let me take a chance
on you and tell you what I plan to do
But please don’t
share it, please don’t share.
I am going to wash away their sins
And you are
going to forgive them everything
Before we send them on their way
And I will join them another day
I hope you don’t think I am cruel or make me
out to be a fool
‘cos I am truthful to myself.
The pain they feel
will soon be gone they know what
they have done is
wrong and I will free them from their chains.
If they would just
let me go free then I would
show you how I see
the world as I feel it should be
A world with me
myself and I, and empty streets
for miles and miles,
you can join me if u like
I am going to wash away their sins
And you are going to forgive them everything
Before we send them on their way
And I will join them another day
I can see myself when I look at you,
My actions are absorbed
into the room,
They stare at me,
analysing every thing I do, I do, I do, I do.
I hug myself now
everyday and think of how to get away
From this strange
place that keeps us safe.

Tribute
Heres
a message I hope you can receive it
It’s a tribute
in a song
Hope it travels
through the boundary separating
What is here and
what is gone,
Can you hear me
sing, if you can give me a sign,
So that I know you’re
hearing me.
‘Rise and shine the weathers fine’ is what you told me
As you blinded me
with light
You showed me what
to do, and how to do it your way,
Taught me how your
way was right
And everytime you
left you’d turn around to me and say
‘I’ll
see you when I get my glasses’.
So this is a tribute to you now,
Be proud of what you’ve left behind.
You gave me everything I wanted and maybe more
I hope , I gave you everything you hoped for too.
Your sense of humour it was like no other
as you entertained a crowd
exaggerating what
you were explaining
as the heads all
turned around…
to listen to you
tell, a story that went on and on
with pauses in between
the words
So this is a tribute to you now,
Be proud of what you’ve left behind.
You gave me everything I wanted and maybe more
I hope , I gave you everything you hoped for too.
So if you’re listening I hope your understanding
What Im trying to
get across.
And if your watching
I hope that you are seeing
that no longer am
I lost.
can you hear me
sing if you can give me a sign
can you hear me sing if you can give me a sign
can you hear me sing if you can give me a sign
can you hear me sing if you can give me a sign

Slow
Down
I
am sitting here banging on my fingertips
Out the window there’s
a view of passing ships,
Cars, trains and
a bicycle,
I’m sitting
in my dressing gown trying to be meta-phorical.
It’s my day off I can sit here if I like,
Or choose to head
away and maybe I just might,
Go to town to have
a look around,
Watch the craziness
as I compare myself to everyone else.
I feel good and I am happy with myself,
I’ll try to
get my feelings to somebody else,
Who’s not
as happy as they say they are,
Maybe I can help
them by playing 2 major chords on guitar
Just like this,
Just like this.
Cos I am here to slow you down,
And hypnotise you with my words and the rhythm of my sound,
No need to worry cos its just not worth the grief
Take a breath and
take some time to rest your feet,
Cos you’ve
been running round since you could walk
Rushing here and
there and everywhere I know I’m not one to talk.
Yes sometimes I get caught up in this silly race
As I consume it
all I’m missing all the taste
Of everything that
has significance
Like sunny rays
on Saturdays in summer time but now is my chance
To take it all in cos I’m not working today
Forget my baggage
that I picked up on the way
And watch the people
as they run around
Singing from my
window sill a song that may help them to slow down.
Cos I am here to slow you down,
And hypnotise you with my words and the rhythm of my sound.

Corkonian
Brigade
Walking
down St. Patricks hill I get a sense of pride,
with
a view of a great city, I , feel something inside,
a
Shandon bell tolls in the distance, a man sits on a bridge,
This
river it holds many secrets and many images, of,
People
that don't try to swim, and baby killer whales,
I
reach the southside, see the lights, a Corkonian brigade…
greets
me……meets me.
Busy
adults roam the street, musicians try to sing
Above
the noise of lively girls who laugh at anything, I
Stand
outside what used be Cash's with everybody else, who,
Arranged
to meet their friends or partners, they seem under a spell,
That's
crafted by the paper man, who never seems to grow,
Chanting
to the people passing, echo……………………….evening echo,
Echo…………..
…………evening echo.
I
walk down a busy Winthrop street, not caring where I go,
Drilling
noises drown the crowd, outside the GPO, I take a right,
head
down towards the park, the nicest part of town,
Where
people meet to have a drink, and listen to the sounds, of
A
busy and a bustling place they call the Grand Parade, where
The
fountain it baptises you on a windy day…. on a windy day
There
are many hills to walk up and down,
I
like to call this place my rebel town.
Capital
of culture it will be (by the Lee),
So
come along and dance and sing with me-ee.
The
beating heart of Cork I hear just passed ex royal ground,
busy
markets busy men, All dancing to the sound coming,
from
the half price stereos gold watches all around lead me,
To
a bridge that's newly built, joins northside to the south, northside
to the south……
Back
onto my favourite street, it's where my journey ends,
I
head towards the old Savoy , its just around the bend where I,
Wait
next to my next door neighbour for the number eight,
I
realise how great it is, To be a part of the Corkonian Brigade……..
There
are many hills to walk up and down,
I
like to call this place my rebel town.
Capital
of culture it will be(by the Lee),
So
come along and dance and sing with me-ee.
There
are many hills to walk up and down,
I
like to call this place my rebel town.
Capital
of culture it will be(by the Lee),
So
come along and dance and sing with me-ee.

Woman
on a bus
A
woman on a bus, she's staring back at me,
A
woman in a bed, as sleepy as can be-e –e
I'm
singing to my toes, ‘cos they cannot hear,
I'm
laughing to myself, to make these feelings dis-a-ppear…….
Sketch
another line to populate the page,
Hum
another melody, to liven up their day-ya-ya
Oh
to write a song, decisions to be made,
Pick
your favourite memories, immortalise ‘em now before they fade,
But
if you listen, you may hear the line
If
you just could give me endless time
So
I could ex-plain whats im-portant to me,
Then
you would see.
Say
a Lidl prayer for things to go ok,
Concrete
underneath your feet, for over thirty day-ya-yas
Your
clock inside is strange, ya don't understand the haste,
That
ya feel when ya drop your head, on your lips a funny tay-ay-aste
Your
runnin' up and down, a road you cannot see,
Sometimes
you stop to look around,
you're
not where you're supposed to be.
But
if you listen, you may hear the line
If
you just could give me endless time
So
I could ex-plain whats im-portant to me,
Then
you would see, then you may see
Cos
I know I have secrets, that sometimes I need to share
But
whenever time comes asking me, to open up and tell what's really there,
I
get scared…….
But
if you listen, you may hear the line
If
you just could give me endless time
So
I could ex-plain whats im-portant to me,
Then
you would see.
Over-rated
life when things don't go your way,
Sing
a song for everyone makes you feel ok-ya-ya
There's
a woman on a bus, she's staring back at you
There's
a woman in a bed, maybe, you will join her soon….

Perfect
stranger
Words
don't come too easily, open your eyes and you will see,
How
I look at you, how I long for you, in my life.
Sometimes
days go on and they don't go so well
It
seems like that you have your own private hell
But
just when you think things can't get much worse
A
smile from a stranger breaks the curse.
Sometimes
days go by and you cant catch your breath
A
million fearful thoughts go running through your head
But
just as you begin to drown in your own fear
You
feel that perfect stranger here
It
seems so wrong that you got thrown into the dark
And
you pray that, somehow there may be a spark
You
bow your head down low and you close your eyes
with
fear and the perfect stranger draws you near
You
cried so many times and now you don't know why-y-y
It's
still hard but you have a lot more strength to try-y-y
And
as you look around to see if they are near
You
see a perfect strangers tear
You
see a perfect strangers tear
You
see a perfect strangers tear
Words
don't come too easily, open your eyes and you will see,
How
I look at you, how I long for you, in my life.
How
I look at you, how I long for you, to be alright.

Nervous
Please
to meet you I'm nervous , I cant get the words out
How
did I get into this mess, A thousand faces shout
It's
hard to look up and focus, and to have some confidence
One
more verse and I may-ay-ay suggest, to try to break the ice
It's
okay-ay-ay-ay, to look my way
I
can't help the way I feel
Although
I am here, it seems unreal
So
let this moment guide me through
and
lead me right back, back here to you.
As
you sit there it's so quiet, a moving chair turns twenty heads,
your heart inside it tries to fight it,
composure
you thought you had has fled,
Fear
inside you can't deny-hy-hy it,
so
you just strum the guitar,
It's
okay-ay-ay-ay, to look my way
I
can't help the way I feel
Although
I am here, it seems unreal
So
let this moment guide me through
and
lead me right back, back here to you
You
gotta look down deep within,
and
forget all the outside influence,
and
ignore the dropping pin,
just
close your eyes and make your fingers dance,
It's
okay-ay-ay-ay, to look my way
I
can't help the way I feel
Although
I am here, it seems unreal
So
let this moment guide me through
and
lead me right back, back here to you

Glenbeigh
Small
blue doors and sandy shores, is where I wanna be,
Life
is crazy so lets get lazy, in a place we can think,
about
good times, find piece of mind,
this
is it, enjoy the view.
I
can watch the blue sky, I can forget the lies,
I
can walk on for miles be cheered up by the smiles,
It's
like no place on this Earth,
A
peaceful place where you can hide away,
Glenbay-ay
Endless
hours down in the Towers, laughter, drink and a song,
To
find your way back, in the pitch black
Two
by two, we march on
I
can watch the blue sky, I can forget the lies,
I
can walk on for miles be cheered up by the smiles,
It's
like no place on this Earth,
A
peaceful place where you can hide away,
Glenbay-ay

Muse
When
I found you, behind a million books,
it
made me laugh, you're blessed with all the looks,
All
my life you were the first and last,
yeah,yeah,yeah-ah-ah-ah-ah
When
I see you, you liven up my heart,
I
feel so happy, you blow my world apart,
and
all the things inside I cant describe,
No,No,No-oh-oh-oh-oh
Because
I love you, my life is good,
I
hope I love you the way I should
Somethings
worth living for, can be hard to find,
But
you make me, wanna live before I die,
You
make it all worth while I see the light,
shine
right through-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Because
I love you, my life is good,
I
hope I love you the way I should
So
let's go home now, grab me by the hand
Your
place or mine, if they could understand,
the
joy we have together thy might smile, yeah,yeah,yeah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Because
I love you, my life is good,
Everything
now seems so easy
I
hope I love you the way I should,
Now
I know why I'm so happy
